A Letter of Love

Dear Future Children,

Laugh often and laugh hard. Make it a daily habit, laugh at yourself and with others. Make people smile and roll their eyes because of your silliness and optimism. Don't make people groan and walk away curing your name under their breath. But if they do, forgive them, and yourself and move onward and upward. Always look upward unless your walking down stairs and remember that each step is catapulting you either forward or backwards into eternity.

Tell people you like them. Have embarrassing moments and embrace the awkwardness of youth. Do not spend your time thinking about how things will be when you graduate high school or get married and grow up, it is a waste of time, things will not be how you thought and it might make you depressed. If you get depressed, get help, don't try and get out of it on your own, you are only putting a band-aid over it. Remember that hope floats, it is the opposite of fear which makes you sink. If you're sinking ask for help, set aside pride and seek humility.

Live a life that you would like to read about, even when it's boring and especially when it is exciting. Have bad days, but don't let them define you, let them guide you to happier thoughts. Sing loud, even if it is off key, let the world know you have a voice.

People will try to tell you that you can do and say whatever you want without consequence, but every action has a consequence and that can be good and bad. Do not disrespect people who are asking you to step outside of yourself. Do not disrespect people period. Making a scene will only cause that bad decision to play on repeat in your mind and heart until it is settled. Don't spend your time settling debts, spend your time loving and serving.

If you ever lose your faith, serve someone. Maybe your faith won't come back right away, but it will make you feel good and good is better than bad, because good is of God. If you want to be closer to God, go serve his children. Serve anyone, near or far, relative or stranger.

Stay. Stay near me forever, please don't leave me alone. At this point I'm not even close to having you, but I can tell that I love you more than I'll ever be able to explain. Stay with family, despite their flaws. DO NOT JUDGE EACH OTHER, love each other. Live to love, love to live. Because this is what we take with us, love, knowledge, and each other.

Love,
Mom
