Conference Notes - April 2015

This past weekend was Easter and General Conference. I celebrated the life of our Savior by listening to his words. I'm super grateful for the opportunity we have in this day to hear from living prophets and to be spiritually fed. Here are some notes about what I learned from General Conference...

- Fasting will change your nature.
- Marriage brings us the fullness of happiness.
- A real man is someone who relies on the Savior when making decisions for himself and for his family.
- You will know you found the right person to marry when you don't feel in competition, but in completion to your partner. A helpmeet is someone who complete's someone else.
- Do not be fearful of the future.
- Believing in Christ is the true path to peace and happiness.
- Familias pueden ser eternas.
- Fear of the Lord is a source of peace and confidence, reverence, respect and awe for Christ. It doesn't mean you are afraid of him, it means you fear being without him.
- Love comes from you, marriage comes from God.
- If you are not hearing the music of the gospel in your home, remember these two words: Keep Practicing!
- A Saint is a Sinner who keeps on trying.
- Serve.

- Be on your knees at least twice daily.
- Don't just text, talk!
- There is no blessing more important than eternity with the one's you love.
- Humility and faith help us answer our questions.
- You will have more joy as you deepen your understanding of who Christ is.
- Life is not confined to a 4-inch screen.
- Never tire of discovering or rediscovering, the gospel.
- Give them your love and let them go, watch and wait.
- We celebrate the gift of Victory over every sorrow and fear- because Christ atoned for us.
- We need change so dramatic that we become new, we need an unlocked gate and the open windows of Heaven = Grace.
- We obey the commandments because we love God.
- How we live our religion is more important than what we say about our religion.
- Casual obedience and lukewarm faith do not help us live the gospel.
- Read the Book of Mormon and Pray - Every day, Every day, Every day!
- If you lose the spirit, you are lost!
- Once we enter into covenants with God there is no going back. Giving in, giving up, and giving out are not options.
- Attitude helps guide your eternal perspective.
- Doubt not, fear not!
- Seek your own salvation.
- Don't hold an impossible standard.
- The Sabbath is made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

So many great little treasures. There are even more, I can't wait to get them in the Ensign and pour over them again. I'm super grateful for the gospel and for the basic principles of good that it teaches. I think the most important thing about religion, and sharing it, is that you do so with love. I love this gospel and I wish that everyone could understand and accept it. I also hope that those people around me with different beliefs can share and spread the love they feel from what they know.

An over reaching principle that I learned from this past weekend was, Love for God = Love for his Commandments. Everything I have is because of him, and I am so glad he has been willing to share what he has with me.
