Theft & Trying

When I arrived at work today the big screen TV in the conference room was missing. Someone had broken into the office and stole the TV and it's remote. They left behind all of the other valuables attached to it, the laptop, and DVD player. It was so random. After further investigation we found out that another office in the building had been robbed of a few things, and that the camera room had been broken into and the wires cut. There was no evidence of the break in to help in solving the mystery. It was probably the most eventful morning we have had in our office for a while. It's just so sad that people have to steal and cheat their way through life to get what they want.

From the beginning of time humans have done it. Like the two women from the bible who had sons around the same time. One of the women's children died, instead of mourning her sons death, she switched the baby for the other woman's baby that was alive! In the morning the other woman woke up devastated that her baby was dead, only to realize that it wasn't hers. They took the matter to the king and the king thought about what to do. Finally, he came up with a solution. They would cut the baby in half! The woman whose child had died agreed to the fix, and the other woman said she would rather that she just had the baby. AH-HA! The king then knew who the true mother was.

SERIOUSLY THOUGH?? Was that even necessary? What in the WORLD?! I mean, come on! It baffles me that since the creation of man we have had problems like these. You would think that after just a short amount of time people would learn that these things aren't good. Replacing your dead baby with someone else's live one, is NOT OKAY!

Now, let's take a moment and apply this to our lives, because now-a-days you would probably never see that happen. You would however see someone lie or cheat or steal. Or even more subtle you would see someone manipulate, degrade and depress someone else. We see it all the time; other people making us feel worthless on purpose, or making us feel like our blessings are dead, or were never real to begin with.

It doesn't have to be murder, or theft to be bad. And that is what is so sad about the world today. The influence and power of Satan is real. It is a big problem, and we can't just turn a blind eye to it. Ignoring our problems will not fix them, it will only make them worse. Do not, I repeat, do NOT let Satan take control of your life. He only wants one thing at first, then eventually you find yourself bound and tied to him.

Remember this; there is light. Hope smiles brightly before us. In the midst of all the bad there is an unfailing amount of good. It is always there and all we have to do is reach for it. If we but lift up our hand to touch it, we will be making progress. Don't let the power of the adversary tell you different. Don't let him tell you that your EFFORT isn't good enough, because it is, it is always good enough. It's not about how long it takes you to get there, it's about what you do on your way. If you need to change something, then do it. If it doesn't work out, don't quit. You are worth the effort, even if it's tiny. You only fail if you quit trying, Gordon B. Hinckley said that.

The thing we really need to realize here is that we all have a personal worth that is priced above all the riches of the world. It's true. I don't know how it's true, but it is. Each of us matter so much to the progression of life. So if you are getting torn down by Satan, or even if you are the one tearing others down, STOP. Try to get away, try to be better. Just whatever you do, never, ever, quit.
