Night Sky

(via)

There is a moment at night that is my favorite. It happens when the sun is already down, and the streetlights are already on. The darkness creeps in from the east, while the skies on the west try with all their might to hold onto the light. You can see the light working to cast out the black that is enveloping it. A blue-green symphony of colors fading to grey, then black. As your eyes scan the sky the day is washed out by the night. Finished. Over. Washing clean the tops of the houses and cooling down the branches of the trees. The only time when light is overthrown by dark and its a good thing. Everything seems to settle down to a peaceful rest, sleeping away until the first ray of sun comes back again in the morning.

  1. Hi Shelby - thanks for stopping by Chatting at the Sky - I love the feel of your blog. Your writing voice is so interesting to me. It's young, fresh, and a little quirky, which I like.

And I live just a few hours from Shelby, NC ;)
