A Light

A dark silent street stretches forth beneath her feet. Inches from the ground and expanding to the top of her head is a thick, dense, fog. As she steps a foot forward she can feel her heart twist in fear. A path untraveled, a road unknown, how did she get here? All she can remember is where she has been. This is her uncharted territory. She places her foot back in line with the other, and plants them both firmly on the ground. Breathing in the thick air, she bends her knees and reaches her hand down to the ground beneath her. Her fingertips touch the packed dirt path, and her knees give slowly to the earth. Clutching the dirt for some sense of stability, she raises her head and sees a light. Dim at first, then suddenly so unmistakably clear. A beam of sunshine pouring through the fog and reaching for her, she let's the light encompass her, and understands it's meaning. God, has come to save her from her dark and lonesome path. He has come to pick her up, and carry her along the way, whispering his promises in her ear and giving her strength. "I will never go back" she whispers, as she looks up to his face. A resolution made in her heart, to always remember him, and keep his words in her heart. He sets her down upon the ground once again, and remains beside her, walking along the straight and narrow pathway to Eternity.
