General Conference for my church was this weekend. It was amazing. Go here to find out more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Some of my favorite moments in conference where these;
Saturday Morning Session
Henry B. Eyring- Accept a trial as a reason to grow. - Endure Afflictions --> and do for others in your afflictions.
I really liked this. Because most of the time people see bad things happening and thing that "all is lost", nothing is lost if it is a reason to grow. President Eyring taught us to do for others in our afflictions. Even when we have none, we must give what we have. When I am weak. I am strong.
Saturday Afternoon Session
I don't remember his name. But he taught... Testimonies come through desire, prayer, obedience, and service. You can't google search your testimony and you can't text your faith. I love when church leaders talk about texting and the internet and how it doesn't give us all the information we need. It is so true!
Kevin W. Pearson
The 6 Distructive D's. 1. Doubt 2. Discouragement 3. Distraction 4. Lack of Diligence 5. Disobedience 6. Disbelief. Fear and faith cannot exsist together.
This one speaks for itself.
Richard G. Scott
We can do the best we can. The final outcome is up to him. When we are righteous we have no reason to complain. Don't ask why... Ask, What is there to learn from this?
This was one of my favorite talks out of the entire conference. It was all about temples. I loved it. Those are three amazing quotes! Don't you just love the simple wisdom that you learn from conference?!
Sunday Morning Session
Deiter F. Uchtdorf
Apply & Reapply the gospel in your life. PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH. Discipleship is not a spectators sport. We can give up on ourselves, but he will never give up on us.
This talk was so straight forward. He told us to practice what we preach. Become loving members of the lords church and do what we hope others will see and soon thereafter become like. Christ is always there for us, even when we don't think anyone would be. He is the only one that will never leave us.
Steven E. Snow
CHANGE is essential- it is time to get on with our lives. Prepare for change by following the prophet, having an eternal perspective, having faith, and being of good cheer.
This applies to both kinds of change, change we know is happening and unwanted or sudden change. I loved this talk. It confirms my choice to move to Logan, that much more. I loved to hear this and it gave me great hope that I will be ok.
Jeffery R. Holland
We are not alone. The savior had to bear so much alone. Because he walked alone, we don't have to. May we stay by christ at all times, in all things, in all places, even unto death.
This was such a moving talk by Elder Holland. He was so emotional there towards the end but he had all the reason to be. He was so right when he said that Christ suffered alone in the Garden and upon the cross he wondered where his father was. Heavenly father never left him, but for the sacrafice to be fufilled he had to feel what we feel when we loose the lord and think that we are completely alone. I hope none of us ever leave Christ alone. He gave his life for us, it is the least we can do to stay by him always.
Sunday Afternoon Session
Gary E. Stevenson
You are never lost when you can see the temple.
He talked about Logan in this one!! Did everyone hear that? I mean seriously, you can see the temple from ANYWHERE in Logan. It is amazing.
Thomas S. Monson
Pray always, Do not view pornography, Go to the temple, and SERVE.
Our prophet knows what we need and knows what we need to stay clear of. I am so glad that he talked about going to the temple. I love the temple and I am so excited to be married there someday!!!!
